This two-day training course is for practitioners who wish to raise their awareness and understanding of SLCN of children and young people in conflict with the law, with a focus on upholding their rights. Day 1 will focus on the practicalities of SLCNs – awareness and prevention, the impact of trauma and adversity, how can systems and processes be safe, supportive, and accessible. Day 2 will focus on how practitioners can uphold the rights of those children and young people in conflict with the law, including how they would like practitioners to work with them in meeting their communication needs. This course is run in partnership with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and TalkLinks. This exciting course enables participants to exchange knowledge and experience, whilst reflecting and sharing practice to raise awareness of SLCNs, through the use of case studies, research and tools specifically designed for working with children with communications needs.
