Pressure Vessel Design-by-Analysis

Description

This two-day course introduces the concepts and practice of Design-by-Analysis, in the context of design checks contained in the EN 13445, PD 5500, ASME III and ASME VIII Division 2 pressure vessel codes.

 

The delegates are introduced to the scope and purpose of the DBA rules, basic concepts in pressure vessel design, ductile failure mechanisms (limit, plastic collapse and ratchetting), instability & buckling and fatigue failure of welded structures.

 

Pressure vessel DBA guidelines are explained and practical design procedures such as stress linearization, weld hot-spot stress procedures, linear and nonlinear buckling are described in detail.

Design of Piping Systems

Description

This particular course has a wide appeal to all engineers associated with the design of piping systems.

Delegates are provided with a broad understanding of the various aspects of design and analysis of piping systems. Basic concepts in pipework design and analysis are addressed including an overview of the design and analysis sections of Codes BS806, ANSI B31.1, B31.3, and EN 13480.

Flexibility analysis of piping systems and computer software is also employed. Behaviour of components includes straight pipes, elbows and branches.

The implementation of these approaches in the Codes is also covered.
