This course is designed for: (a) Engineering professional who want to reorient their careers toward technical positions (b) Industrial professionals with basic knowledge in the field of electrification willing to expand their knowledge (c) Industrials interested in familiarizing themselves with cutting-edge power electronics technology used in aircraft machine drives.

Power electronic converters and electrical machines are the key components for the realisation of the more electric aircraft (MEA), hybrid electric aircraft (HEA), and electric propulsion aircraft. In the MEA, mechanical actuators are replaced by electrical actuators whereas in hybrid and all electric applications, electrical motors provide thrust to the airplane. This course will explain the modelling and control of the electrical machines and their associated power electronic converters used for aircraft applications, including DC machines, brushless DC motors, induction machines, permanent magnet synchronous machines and variable reluctance machines (switched and synchronous).
