At the meetings of the British Animal Studies Network held at the University of Strathclyde over the past four years we have been engaging with the senses: with the bodily engagement with the material world that on some levels we share with animals, and that distinguish animals from us, and from each other, in some remarkable and telling ways. Following on the heels of ‘Looking’, ‘Feeling’, ‘Tasting’ and ‘Smelling’, ‘Hearing’ invites thinking about the auditory capacities of animals and human engagement with animal sounds. Invited plenary speakers are Karen Lury (Glasgow University), John Webster (emeritus, University of Bristol), and Cary Wolfe (Rice University)
Registration will include coffee/tea during the meeting, and a vegan lunch on Saturday.

The poet Susan Richardson will be offering a free Postgraduate writing workshop on Friday 19 May from 11.00-1.00 (lunch included). Places are limited so if you are a postgrad who is registered for BASN and would like to attend please contact Erica.fudge@strath.ac.uk asap.
