The Opening Training School is the first UTOPIAE training event targeting PhD students and early career researchers interested in the fields of uncertainty quantification and optimisation. More information on the research and training activities can be found on our website here.

The training school is a week-long intensive school providing a solid base of knowledge necessary for researchers to start working in the fields of optimisation and uncertainty quantification. The lectures start with introductions to the general fields before branching off into specific methods and approaches, leading to the current state of the art in research. Several applications and test cases will be presented showing how this material is practically applied by industry and governments.

The numerous speakers are experts from a mix of industry, academia and research centres across Europe with specialisations in mathematics, engineering and computer science. There are 22 different speakers across 7 countries, including talks from DLR, CIRA, VKI, Airbus and Stanford and 6 leading European universities in the field.

The programme for the conference can be found here.

Registration is offered per day, or for the whole week. No virtual connections are possible. The registration fee is to cover the running costs, such as catering, and will include access to the training material and slides.

*Please note you are cordially invited to attend the free Public Lecture delivered by our special guest presenter Jörg Bewersdorff, noted author of Luck, Logic and White Lies. Attendance for this public talk can be booked during the registration process.
